Trainee soldier commits suicide

Bangalore: A trainee soldier of the Indian Army committed suicide in his room at an army barrack on Saturday. The Banaswadi police said that Kumar (21) was found hanging in his room at the barrack on Maruthiseva Nagar Main Road. The incident came to light when his batch mates went into his room on Sunday. Kumar was deployed at the MEG Centre on Banaswadi Main Road, they said. A case has been registered.

Robbed

A woman was robbed of her handbag at around 10 p.m. on Saturday. The police said that the incident occurred on Lower Agrahara Road, coming under the Viveknagar Police Station limits.

The police said that Priyadarshini (33), a booking clerk at a travel agency, was riding back home when two persons on a motorcycle, crashed into her two-wheeler. They said that when she lost balance and fell, the two threatened her with a knife and took away her handbag.

In her complaint, Priyadarshini has said that her bag contained Rs. 15,000 in cash, $ 900 in cash and credit and debit cards. It is said that she suffered minor injuries in the incident. A case has been registered.

Run over

A cyclist was killed on the spot after he was run over by a vehicle on Saturday near the Hosaguddadahalli Toll Gate coming under Byatarayanapura Traffic Police Station limits. The police said that the identity of the victim is yet to be ascertained. A case has been registered.

Assaulted

A real estate agent was injured after a gang of four persons attacked him with sharp weapons. The police said that the real estate agent Jayaram, a resident of Kaggalipura, was attacked with machetes by the gang on Saturday.

They said that the incident occurred when Jayaram was riding pillion with his friend Manjunath on his way home, coming under Thalaghattapura Police Station limits. A sports utility vehicle hit their motorcycle and four persons from the car later attacked Jayaram, who had fallen off the motorcycle, with machetes. The police said that Jayaram has been admitted in a private hospital. A case has been registered.

Body found

The body of a woman was found on the railway track near Hejjala. The Bangalore City Railway Station police said that the woman, aged between 25 and 30, may have jumped in front of a train in a bid to commit suicide. A case has been registered.
