As per a resolution adopted last year that mathematics had to penetrate the minds of students of rural India, it was decided to organise the conference in rural areas. DelegatesAbout 600 teachers, including delegates from other states such as Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Delhi, Maharashtra besides students would attend the three-day conference to be inaugurated by Kakatiya University Vice-Chancellor N. Lingamurthy, Mr. Ramaiah would deliver the keynote address. Mr. Ramaiah said that as per a survey conducted by them, not even one per cent of students in government schools in rural areas belonged to forward castes. As most of the students hailed from SC and ST sections with no educational background at home, most of them were failing in mathematics and English.
