Poll panel uses special software

Staff Correspondent

DAVANGERE: There are a large number of repetition of voters’ names in Mayakonda and Davangere taluk and the State Election Commission had run a software and detected such cases in Davangere and Mayakonda taluks.

According to highly placed official sources, many voters had their names in different forms in Mayakonda and Davangere taluks.

For instance, A. Rangappa had registered his name as Rangappa A. and mere Rangappa and thereby having his name registered three times. The Election Commission through a special software had detected such repetition of names and prepared a statement. Officers concerned had been asked to correct such mistakes and prepare a correct list of voters in two places.

The sources said the Election Commission might run the same software in the remaining four taluks of the district and detect such repetition of names. However, sources sought to call such voters as duplicate rather than fake.
