Alappuzha
ALAPPUZHA: This year’s edition of the Alappuzha Tourism Festival, popular as the Beach Festival since the five-day event is held on Alappuzha Beach every year, will begin on December 27. The first day of the festival will have a magic show by Magician Samraj at 7 p.m. The inaugural function will be on December 28, with Tourism Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan inaugurating the event at 7 p.m. Addressing a press conference here on Monday, District Collector V.K. Balakrishnan said the festival, being organised by the Alappuzha Municipality in association with the District Tourism Promotion Council, the State Tourism Department and the District administration, would have a variety of cultural programmes to attract tourists on all five days. On Friday, the programmes would include a friendly tug-of-war event between teams led by Alappuzha MLA K.C. Venugopal and Municipal chairman P.P. Chittaranjan, a mega show by Cochin Kaladarshana, a special musical programme by artistes from the Idea Star Singer programme and a mimics show by popular cine actor Suraj Venjarammoodu.
