NEW DELHI: The issue of allotments under the Municipal Corporation of Delhi’s Ghogha Dairy scheme was given a new perspective on Monday with former Mayor Farhad Suri alleging that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party was trying to shield veterinary surgeon S. K. Yadav, presently under suspension due to his alleged involvement in fraudulent allotments. Addressing a press conference, Mr. Suri said: “Two enquiries into the Ghogha Dairy allotments that were conducted when the Congress was the ruling party had indicated fraudulent allotments to the extent of 48 per cent and 67 per cent respectively. We had decided to hand over the enquiry to the Central Bureau of Investigation, but before that could materialise, we were voted out of power.” Mr. Suri alleged that the present sub-committee set up by Mayor Arti Mehra to look into the Ghogha Dairy scam had been constituted merely to give a “clean chit” to S. K. Yadav, who was currently fighting his suspension in court. “Dr. Yadav recently presented in court a report of the sub-committee that cleared him of all charges. The interesting thing is that this report has not yet been tabled in the House and there is absolutely no way how Dr. Yadav could have got his hands on it unless he was in connivance with the Mayor. This is a latent attempt by the ruling BJP to exonerate a charge-sheeted officer,” Mr. Suri added.
