Underpass opened near Ramamurthynagar BDA to inaugurate at least one project a month

Bangalore: Twenty-eight freedom fighters, all in their 80s and 90s, can now dream of living in their own house. Governor Rameshwar Thakur, a freedom fighter himself, presented site allotment letters of the Bangalore Development Authority to them at a function organised here on Monday. Mr. Thakur was so courteous to the veterans that the first thing he did when he arrived at the venue was to go to the enclosure where they were sitting. He spent nearly 20 minutes with them, exchanging pleasantries and listening to their problems. Each of the freedom fighters was allotted a site measuring 30x40 ft in BTM Layout 6th Stage. This is the second time in recent months that the BDA is allotting sites to freedom fighters. Nineteen sites were allotted at Happy Valley Layout in Banashankari 5th stage by the former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy. Underpass openedThe Governor also inaugurated an underpass built by the BDA at a cost of Rs.18 crore at the junction of the Outer Ring Road and Banaswadi-Ramamurthynagar Road. The width of the road is 26.40 metres, with 11-metre carriageways and one-metre footpaths and drains on either side. It has a 1.50-metre median. The service roads on either side of the underpass are 7.50 to 8.50 metres wide. Speaking to presspersons, Mr. Thakur said the BDA would inaugurate at least one project every month to ensure that Bangalore’s infrastructure improves. BDA Chairman and Commissioner M.K. Shankaralinge Gowda agreed to the request of the freedom fighters that they be taken to BTM layout to see the sites. K.B. Munivenkata Reddy, MLC; Ivan Nigli, former MLA; P.N. Nayak, Engineer Member; and G.C. Rajasekhar, Secretary of the BDA, were present on the occasion. The freedom fighters who have been allotted sites are S. Subbarao, B.M. Nanjundappa, Manjunatha Ramachandra Hegde, D.R. Manje Gowda, Basappa N. Shirura, Eswara Ram Hegde, N.S. Puttarudraiah, C. Thammaiah, A. Hiriyannaiah, S.V. Bhadranna, M.H. Narasimhaiah, Anjaneyappa, N.M. Chandra- shekaraiah, B.V. Bheema Rao, G. Nagappa, Veeraiah Swamy, Subbe Gowda, Shankarappa, K. Ramachandra, K.A. Kotrappa, A. Veerabhadrappa, C.M. Narasimha Jetty, N. Narasimhaiah, Andanappa, Subbanna, S. Krishnamurthy, Seetharaman and K.S. Nagaraja Rao.
