KOCHI: The Kerala Industrial and Technology Consultancy Organisation (KITCO), with a number of prestigious projects in its kitty, is foraying into foreign lands. The organisation, having bagged a key job for an airport in the Gulf region in partnership with a foreign company, has also got in-principle approval for the renovation and reconstruction of 16 airports in Angola. The company is also eying Special Economic Zones and the road sector, two of the most happening sectors in the economy. KITCO has already completed the detailed project report and the environment impact assessment of the port-based Special Economic Zone and the rail connectivity to the Vallarpadam International Container Transhipment Terminal. A.X. Joseph, managing director, KITCO, said the organisation covers four key areas of operation – project consultancy, detailed engineering, management consultancy and technical services. KITCO’s other services include asset valuation, market research, energy audit, special studies, training, and techno-economic feasibility studies. Another arm of KITCO is the Placement Park at Kalamasserry. With human resource management gaining prominence, KITCO aims at providing suitable manpower to government, semi-government, private and public sector organisations. In the field of education, KITCO certifies various job-oriented courses in hotel management, instrumentation technology, CNC programming and operation, construction engineering and so on. Apart from this, KITCO offers accreditation to technicians through skill certification, thus empowering skilled persons with no formal qualification. KITCO is now looking for greener pastures and feels there is big scope for advancement in Special Economic Zones and the highways sector. The organisation claims it has the technical and human resources to make an impact on this highly competitive segment.
