NEW DELHI: FIDE has confirmed Asian ladies chess champion Tania Sachdev International Masters title in its Presidential Board meeting in Singapore on December 21-22.
The meeting also awarded the title of Woman International Master (WIM) to Chennai’s Sai Meera. She completed the formalities for gaining the WIM title in Pune in November.
The Grandmaster title application of Abhijeet Gupta received conditional approval from the Board. His GM three norms were found in order. He will officially become the country’s 17th GM once FIDE is convinced of his rating touching the stipulated 2500-mark. — Special Correspondent
