34-year-old police constable dies enroute to control room

TIRUCHI: A Grade- I police constable died following a heart attack while riding a two-wheeler here on Monday.

Police gave the name of the deceased as S. Karikalvalavan (34), who was attached to the Cantonment police station here.

Police sources said the constable was on his way to the police control room to file a report after completing his duty at the check post when he is said to have suddenly developed chest pain.

Unable to proceed further, the constable stopped the vehicle and soon became unconscious.

The locals alerted the police and he was taken to hospital. However, he died on the way, the sources said.
