Mysterious businessman death case transferred to Crime Branch
Staff Reporter
A murder case has been registered in this connection
NEW DELHI: A murder case has been registered in connection with the mysterious death of a 65-year-old businessman and the 35-year-old caretaker of Sai Animal Welfare Ashram here this past Friday. Eight dogs were also found dead on the premises.
The case has been transferred to the Crime Branch of the Delhi police.
The owner of the dog shelter, Vishwant Kumar, and its caretaker, Shivraj, were found dead inside a room in the Ashram. The bodies were first spotted by a guard at the ashram and the police were informed.
Vishwant Kumar was a resident of Greater Kailash and very fond of animals, especially dogs.
He had floated the non-government organisation four years ago to provide shelter to stray dogs. There are nearly 60 dogs at the shelter and Vishwant Kumar spent most of his time at the Ashram.
Earlier, the police had suspected it to be a case of food poisoning and investigations were being carried out under Section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
But a murder case was registered after relatives of the deceased met senior police officers expressing suspicion that the duo might have been murdered following some property dispute.
