PUDUCHERRY: The Rota Sport Junior State Tennis Tournament 2007, being organised by the Rotary Club of Pondicherry Port, is on at the 100-year-old Cercle de Pondicherien’s tennis ground till December 30.

Around 100 children, 20 in the under-10 category, 40 in the 10-12 yrs category and 40 in the 12-14 yrs category, are taking part. Chief Minister N. Rangasamy will play an exhibition match at the venue on the last day before distributing prizes to winners.

According to club president Krishnamurthy, this is the first time such an event is being held for children in these age groups.

Project chairman Manohar Nanwani said the club was keen on conducting the tournament annually.

The event is open to members of the public.
