Stung by hartals

There is a spurt in hartals in Kerala. The number of hartals in 2007 has been four times that of the previous year. The observation was made by Suresh Joseph, a top executive of DP World, in Kochi. “The hartal industry is very active in Kerala,” he said, driving home the point that his company’s work at the Kochi port has been affected by strikes and hartals.
