MoU on IT projects to be signed in February UAE-based companies open shop in Kozhikode Kozhikode: Minister for Industries Elamaram Karim has said that the Left Democratic Front government is committed to promoting Information Technology (IT) and Information Technology Enabled Services (ITES) in a big way in the State. Inaugurating the Menon BPO Private Limited (Accounting Outsourcing Services) and the Ipix Solution Private Limited (Web Application Services) at the Taj Residency here on Monday evening, Mr. Karim said his department had worked out modalities in going ahead with several IT projects with companies based in the UAE. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) would be signed between the government and these companies in February, he said. Both Menon BPO and Ipix Solutions are firms promoted by top consultants Morison Menon Group in the UAE. The new projects are set up at Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (KINFRA) Park at Kakkancherry, 25 km from Kozhikode. The company has leased 4,500 sq ft of office space for the purpose. The Industries Minister said a team from the UAE had held talks with the State officials in the presence of Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan in Thiruvananthapuram recently on developing the IT sector. The government also presented a few projects before the visiting team, including members of the UAE administration. A feasibility report on these projects would be submitted to the government soon, Mr. Karim said. Several companies had evinced interest to start projects with the establishment of the Smart City at Kochi. The State would surge ahead in the IT sector with the setting of these projects. The government was wholeheartedly supporting the endeavours of IT companies, he said. P.M.A. Salam, MLA; Abu Dhabi-based industrialist Hamad Al Mas; E.M. Rajagopal Menon, managing partner, Morison Menon Group; M.R. Sreenath, managing partner of Ipix Solutions, and Kavita Gopan, director (operations) Ipix Solutions, also spoke. Morison Menon Group is one of the leading professional services firm in West Asia having offices in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Tehran, Muscat and Qatar. Menon BPO will be outsourcing services in book keeping, accounting, payroll management, human resource administration and U.S. tax returns and Ipix Solutions will operate on services such as web development, software development, e-commerce website designing, web maintenance, domain registration and web hosting.
