KOLLAM: A team from the Kollam Excise Range seized 210 litres of spirit from a toddy shop at Kuppana on Monday. Excise inspector B. Tinnymon, who lead the team, said the spirit was found in the store of the shop. A shop employee, Sunil Kumar, 31, was arrested. A case under relevant sections of the abkari Act was registered against the licensee of the shop, Mohan, and the owner, Prakash. This was the same shop where seven people had lost their lives in a liquor tragedy on April 10, 2003. The Excise Department has intensified raids to check the sale of illicit liquor in the Christmas and New Year season. — Staff Reporter
