Medical superintendent convicted

BANGALORE: The Principal District and Sessions Judge, Dharwad, sentenced Y. Peddanna, Chief Medical Superintendent of Railway Hospital, Hubli, to three years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 46,000 in connection with two cases of misappropriation of advance payments and hospital charges.
Peddanna had collected hospital charges of Rs. 14,439 from 16 persons between December 1996 and November 1997 and had not deposited it with the office of the Divisional Cashier (Pay), South Western Railway, Hubli. Similarly he had not deposited hospital charges of Rs. 18,054 collected from 24 persons between December 1997 and November 1998.
Judge Pradeep Waigonkar on Monday convicted Peddanna for the offences.
