VIZIANAGARAM: Lok Satta Party convener Jayaprakash Narayan has stated that the grants sanctioned under Arogyasri health insurance scheme will only benefit corporate hospitals more than the poor. He said that he was ready to substantiate his argument provided the Chief Minister came for a discussion on the issue. Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Dr. Narayan criticised the government for neglecting primary health and favouring the corporate hospitals by earmarking funds on the pretext of providing better health care to the poor. If the government had any intention to provide better health to the poor it must release more grants and supply medicines to the PHCs, he suggested. Dr. Narayan asked how would the scheme benefit the poor when they were unable to get medical aid for minor ailments throughout the year at PHCs. Vishnu Murthy, district convener, B. Babji and others were present.
