Hanumantha Rao questions Naidu on BC ‘garjana’ rally

Gargi Parsai

NEW DELHI: Rajya Sabha member V. Hanumantha Rao on Tuesday questioned the credibility of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in holding a ‘garjana’ (roar) rally for Backward Classes in Warangal next month.

Speaking to media persons here, the former Pradesh Congress Committee Chief asked why Mr Naidu did not show the same concern for the Backward Classes when he was the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.

“If he is so concerned about BCs, he should yield one post for a BC leader within his own party. Then only will people believe him.”

He was referring to the dual position that Mr. Naidu holds in the Telugu Desam Party as the party president as well as the Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly.

Allegation

Mr. Rao charged Mr. Naidu with not taking up for the Backward Classes. “Before organising a garjana rally for Backward Classes, he should have given them importance. This is my point.”
