VSP expansion as per schedule

VISAKHAPATNAM: The expansion work of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant is progressing as per schedule.

The first phase expansion will be completed by fourth quarter of 2009-10, a VSP release said on Tuesday. The major milestone of one lakh cubic meters of concrete pouring was achieved on Tuesday.

The release stated that piling work was nearing completion and other works like concrete-pouring, steel structural fabrication and erection is gaining momentum. Monthly concrete pouring of 23,000 cubic meters will be achieved by month-end.

Order placement for all major process packages of 6.3 million tonne expansion work is already completed, the release said.
