Aid given to school consumer clubs

KARUR: Collector T.N. Venkatesh handed over a sum of Rs.8 lakh each to representatives of consumer awareness clubs formed in 15 higher secondary schools from across the district for spreading awareness of consumer movement and rights at young age. Besides, he also disbursed Rs.30,000 for the district consumer welfare council.
Mookkanakurichi panchayat president Chinnasamy handed over a cheque for Rs.50,000 as people’s contribution under the Namakku Naame scheme for constructing a compound wall for the graveyard at Kandasaarapatti.
Puliyur Town Panchayat Commissioner C. Hariharan handed over a cheque for Rs.1 lakh, donated by the Chettinad Cement Corporation, on behalf of the public, to construct a library in Ward 7 of the Town Panchayat under the Namakku Naame scheme.
