NEW DELHI: The setting up of a mechanised chicken dressing plant and a special purpose vehicle for GIS mapping have been approved by the Delhi Cabinet.

The Cabinet has also decided to step up the pace of development works in all the unauthorised colonies.

Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit announced after the Cabinet meeting that the mechanised chicken dressing plant would be set up at the Poultry Market in Ghazipur on a public-private partnership model. It would run in two shifts of eight hours each and have the capacity of processing 40,000 chickens in each shift. The plant, she said, would be designed using the principles of good manufacturing practices and good hygiene practices as per international standards.

The Cabinet also approved the setting up of an SPV under Section 25 of the Companies Act, 1956, for undertaking the work of 3-D GIS mapping of underground as well as over ground structures of Delhi. The Government had already sanctioned a budget of Rs.120 crore for the project – called Geospatial Delhi -- at the time of singing of MoU between the Delhi Government and the Survey of India on November 30. The project would be completed within 18 months.

For accelerating the pace of development in all unauthorised colonies, Ms. Dikshit said the Cabinet also decided to allow construction of roads and drains in all these colonies as per the aerial survey of March 31, 2002.

Transparency

Finally, stating that her Government was committed to establishing transparency in its functioning, Ms. Dikshit said the Cabinet had decided to implement the e-procurement tendering solution through the Directorate-General of Supplies and Disposal to implement e-procurement for tenders having estimated cost value of Rs.25 lakh and above in the initial stage. Subsequently all tenders would be covered under e-procurement system, she said.
