Two sponge iron units closed

Rourkela: In a significant measure to check air and water pollution in industrial units, the Orissa Pollution Control Board (OPCB) has sealed two private sponge iron units in Sundergarh district for alleged violation of norms.

Sources in the regional office of the board said here on Tuesday that the two units – MA Sakambari Sponge Iron at Kuarmunda, 30 km from here, and MA Tarini Sponge Iron at Bolanda, about 40 km from here, were sealed on Monday for their “failure to meet anti-pollution norms.” – PTI
