Huge python, a feast to eyes

Staff Reporter

Rare spectacle: A python resting at Shenbagathoppu near Srivilliputtur on Tuesday.

SRIVILLIPUTTUR: Tourists and locales visiting Shenbagathoppu falls near here got to witness a rare spectacle unfolding before their eyes - the might of an otherwise innocuous looking python.

At first glance, not many believed that the bulged portion seen behind the head of the reptile was its stomach. For, the size of its head and an almost pointed tail were in sharp contrast to its stomach.

The python has been lying at Paliyan Parai at Athithundu beat of the Western Ghats for a couple of days after feasting on a prey believed to be a deer, according to local people.

As it had very little movement, eager visitors to the falls, especially children, were playing pranks with it.
