“Increase wax production”

VIRUDHUNAGAR: The Sattur Chamber of Commerce and Industries has urged the Union Petroleum Minister, Murli Deora, to increase production of type II and type III wax, used in match industry.
In a memorandum sent to the Minister, the chamber general secretary, P.T.K.A. Balasubramanian, said that the usage of wax had increased following the frequent power cuts in the State.
To tide over the short supply, efforts should be made to increase the wax production by the Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited.
“If need be, wax should be imported for the benefit of the match industry,” the memorandum said. The short supply of wax would affect the employment opportunity of lakhs of people employed in the cottage industry.
