Vajpayee’s birthday celebrated

HYDERABAD: Distribution of bed-sheets to the poor, fruits to patients, poor-feeding and blood donation were organised by BJP activists in the city to celebrate the 84th birthday of former Prime Minister A.B. Vajpayee on Tuesday.

A cake weighing 84 kg was cut by State BJP president Bandaru Dattatreya at Krishnanagar, Kachiguda.

Addressing partymen he said the credit for sanctioning houses to the poor under Vambay scheme goes to Mr.Vajpayee as more than 80 lakh dwellings were allotted during his tenure.

G. Kishen Reddy, party MLA, said Mr. Vajpayee had launched the Deepam scheme and ensured that lakhs of poor got cooking gas. While essential commodities were within the reach of the poor during the NDA regime, their prices rose threefold now. City BJP president Prem Singh Rathore spoke.
