CHAMARAJANAGAR: Three persons died in separate incidents at Bhara Chukki Falls in Kollegal taluk on Sunday. The police gave the name of the deceased as Dharmaraju (22), a native of Amachavadi village in Chamarajanagar taluk and a second PUC student of Janaseva College, Bangalore; G.P. Jayashankar (27), a resident of Kollegal town and a second PUC student of National College, Kollegal; and Wasim, a resident of BTM layout, Bangalore. In the first incident, Mr. Jayashankar, along with his friends, came to the downstream of Bhara Chukki for a swim. Caught in a swirl, Mr, Jayashankar drowned, while his friends escaped. In the second incident, Dharmaraju, who came on a sight-seeing trip to the falls, lost his balance and fell off a rock. He died on the spot. In the third incident, Mr. Wasim and his two friends, who came in a bike, fell into a canal near the Dargah at the falls after the rider lost control of the bike. Mr. Wasim drowned in the canal, while his two friends swam to safety. Later, they informed the Kollegal rural police about the incident. The bodies were handed over to the family members after a post-mortem. Kollegal Rural Police have registered a case.
