Mahasabha stages protest

Staff Correspondent

The members condemned Siddaramaiah’s behaviour

CHAMARAJANAGAR: Hundreds of Akhila Bharatha Veerashaiva Mahasabha (ABVMS) members, led by district president K.S. Nagarajappa, took out a procession here on Monday protesting against what they termed the “unruly behaviour” of the former Deputy Chief Minister Siddaramaiah during the Youth Congress convention held in Mysore on Sunday.

The procession began at Siddamalleshwara Veeraktha Math and culminated at Bhuvaneshwara Circle, where the protesters burnt the effigy of Mr. Siddaramaiah.

They also raised slogans against Mr. Siddaramaiah and some Congress members, whom, they alleged, were trying to sideline the former minister Mahadev and his followers in the party.

They said Mr. Siddaramaiah’s behaviour had hurt the Veershaiva community to which Mr. Mahadev belonged.

A bandh was observed in Santhemaralli Hobli in Chamarajanagar taluk.

A large number of supporters of Mr. Mahadev took out a protest march against Mr. Siddaramaiah.

Those loyal to Mr. Mahadev staged a demonstration in Gundlepet town. They blocked traffic on the Mysore-Ooty road. ABVMS State committee member K. Veerabhadraswamy, taluk president Natesh and others took part in the procession.
