Girl’s death sparks row

CHENNAI: The death of a 19-year-old girl in a private hospital in the Perungudi area sparked a row on Tuesday.

Police said that the victim’s father Benny Prabhu of Moolakadai admitted his daughter in the hospital on Monday evening following complaints of stomach-related ailment. She underwent a few tests followed by a surgery.

However, late in the night, she was declared dead.

As the parents refused to take the body in the morning, tension prevailed for sometime.

The relatives demanded arrest of the hospital authorities and lodged a complaint with the police.

Benny Prabhu said that he suspected some foul play in the surgery.

The Thoraipakkam police said that they had received a complaint.

The body was sent to the Government Royapettah Hospital for postmortem. An Investigation is on.
