Woman’s son, husband held for her death

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: Police arrested a man and his son in connection with the death of his wife.

The woman allegedly suffered head injuries and died on Sunday.

Two days ago, Jesintha Mary (44) of Senthamizh Nagar Avadi, wife of Joseph Jagannathan, was declared ‘brought dead’ at the Kilpauk Medical College Hospital.

On receipt of information, the police registered a case of unnatural death.

Preliminary inquiries revealed that the victim’s husband and son might be responsible for the death.

Hence, both the man and his son were detained for discreet examination.

A police officer investigating the case said on Tuesday that some problem, which was brewing among the father, son and mother, had resulted in the death of Jesintha Mary.

The police were conducting further investigation.

Youth found dead

A 26-year-old youth was found dead in his house at Virugambakkam on Saturday.

Police said that Praveen Kumar of Venkatesh Nagar was a graduate and worked in a software company.

He had also acted in a Tamil film which was released recently.

He was found hanging in his house, when his mother Geetha was away.

The Virugambakkm police are investigating. The reason for the death was being examined, police said.
