HYDERABAD: The Jeedimetla police on Tuesday arrested three persons in connection with the attempt to loot cash belonging to the eSeva centre in Jagadgirigutta reported on the night of December 12. Investigation revealed that the trio was not connected to robberies committed earlier at eSeva centres in the city, they said. The accused, K. Suresh, P. Arun Mahesh and Venugopal, hatched a plot to loot the van of a security agency that collects daily collections from the eSeva centres. Suresh, who earlier worked with a security agency and was sacked on charge of stealing diesel from vehicles, joined hands with Mahesh to commit the robbery, the Inspector B. Srinivas Reddy said. They procured country-made revolvers. Since Suresh was familiar with the routes and the timings during which the staff would collect money from the centre, he planned to strike at Jagadgirigutta. He and Mahesh attacked the security agency staff by firing three rounds at them. But the armed guard of the agency, Nagabhushan Rao, retaliated with his double barrel gun. While Suresh was caught having sustained a bullet wound on his leg, Mahesh managed to escape. Suresh later escaped from the hospital where he was being treated. Later, the police arrested the three accused persons.
