Charge sheet filed in iron balls seizure case

CHENNAI: The ‘Q’ Branch CID has filed the charge sheet in a case relating to the seizure of iron balls at Perambalur in March this year.
An officer of the special unit said the final report was filed against 21 persons.
Four absconding
Of those accused, 17 persons, including seven Sri Lankans, have been arrested. Four persons, including two Sri Lankans, are absconding.
The case pertained to the arrest of Arulseelan of Sri Lanka, who was staying in Tiruchirappalli, and the seizure of Rs.10 lakh from him in March. The police later seized iron balls kept in 150 bags, each weighing 30 kg, at Perambalur.
