Police register a case of suspicious death as body had no injuries

Woman says husband returned home drunk, found dead next day

HYDERABAD: A housewife, Prabhavathi, was arrested by the Jeedimetla police on Tuesday on the charge of murdering her husband Raghunatha Reddy, a private company salesman.

Reddy was found dead in his house at NTR Nagar of Suraram on November 17 last. Based on the complaint lodged by his wife, the police then registered a case of suspicious death as no injuries were found on the body.

“The woman then maintained that her husband returned home in a drunken condition the previous night and was found dead the next morning.

Hence, we could not suspect any foul play,” the police said.

However, the forensic doctors subsequently confirmed that Reddy was strangled to death prompting the police to alter the sections of law to murder.

Confession

When questioned, Prabhavati admitted to have murdered her husband on the night of November 16 since he used to harass the family members in a drunken condition every day.
