Film festival inaugurated

S.R Ashok Kumar

CHENNAI: The International Film Festival of Tamil Nadu was inaugurated here on Tuesday.

Speaking at the launch, actor Madhavan urged residents to preserve the environment. “People now know more about AIDS and smoking. But they must also know that polluting our environment by way of using plastic and other various such materials should be completely avoided.”

He said the festival organised by the International Tamil Film Academy and Seventh Channel would go a long way in not only promoting good cinema but also serving the society in a better way.

Pyramid Saimira director Swaminathan said they would help ‘Seventh Channel’ Narayanan conduct the festival in a grand manner. “The festival features some very good films and none of them have been screened anywhere else in India.”

Nobel Laureate Al Gore’s feature film documentary ‘An Inconvenient Truth’ was screened at the event.
