Book fair from today

PUDUCHERRY: The Department of Art and Culture is organising their third annual book fair from December 27, 2007, to January 6, 2008 at Ananda Thirumana Nilayam.

Minister for Education and Art and Culture M.O.H.F. Shahjahan told reporters on Wednesday that a discount of 25 per cent would be offered on all purchases at the fair.

“The fair would have 45 book publishers and 3 computer-related firms. We will also have one stall with books from local authors. Of the 25 per cent discount, 15 per cent would be borne by the Government of Puducherry and the rest by the publishers. Last year, we had sales totalling to Rs.39 lakh. This year, we expect to do business of around Rs.45 lakh,” he added.

Chief Minister N. Rangasamy would inaugurate the exhibition.
