Rally by artistes to mark Nizamabad centenary fete

NIZAMABAD: A huge rally by artistes from all over the State will be taken out from Khilla Ramalayam to the Collecorate grounds marking the three-day district centenary celebrations at the district headquarter town on December 28.

Besides the artistes, students, progressive farmers, torch-bearing teams, ‘bajan’ teams and women will take part. It will also include the tableau of district history and culture. Artistes will participate with different fancy dresses. The rally will be telecast in local channel.

On the rally reaching the District Sports Authority grounds, the centenary celebrations will commence simultaneously at Pragati Bhavan, Rajiv Gandhi Auditorium and Bal Bhavan premises. A hundred women holding haratis (small lamps on a platter) will welcome the rally.

Governor to take part

On December 29, Governor N.D. Tiwari, after unveiling the centenary pylon built at the Potti Sreeramulu chowrasta, will take part in the celebrations. Before that, he will inaugurate the newly built Red Cross Society school building and visit the blood bank run by the society.

On the occasion, Mahila Day will be celebrated conducting different competitions for women and students. Union Minister for Woman and Child Welfare Renuka Chowdary and Tourism Minister Anam Ramnarayana Reddy will attend. In the valedictory of the celebrations to be held on December 30 in which Union Minister of State for Coal Dasari Narayana Rao will participate.

Hundred persons who rendered outstanding services in their respective fields will be honoured in connection with the centenary celebrations, district Collector B. Ramanjaneyulu said.
