Chandigarh: The Punjab Government will hold polls to Gram Panchayats, Panchayat Samities and Zila Parishads on a single day, marking a departure from the tradition of holding it on separate dates. Polls to these bodies will be held very soon, Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Ranjeet Singh Brahampura told a press conference here on Wednesday. Earlier elections to these bodies were held on separate dates, he said, adding that to check prevailing groupism in villages, the state government decided to hold polls to these bodies on one single day.
