KASARAGOD: The annual Kaliyattom festival at the Kanathoor Shri Nalvar Daivasthanam (Kanathoor temple), Muliyar, would be held from December 28, 2007 to January 3, 2008 with traditional rituals. This was informed by temple managing trustee K.P. Narayanan Nair. The festival would begin with a ceremonial purification rite (Shuddi Kalasam). A ceremonial procession called Bhandaram Ezhunnullippu would be held at 4 p.m. on December 29. The festival ceremonies would start at 4.30 a.m. with Chamundi Daivadarshanam on December 30 and 31 and would end at 11.30 p.m. The ceremonies would begin with Raktheswari Daivadarshanam on January 1 at 9 a.m. The ceremonial Karikku Kulikkal journey of the deities of the temple would be held at 4 a.m. on January 2. The Vishnu Murthi Daivadarshanam ceremony would be held in the afternoon on the day. The Kaliyattom festival would conclude by noon on January 3 with traditional distribution of temple offerings (prasadam). Various cultural programmes would be held at the temple premises on all days of the festival, noted Mr. Nair. Free food would be distributed to all devotees who arrived at the temple on festival days, he added.
