Doctor convicted in corruption case
BANGALORE: The Special Judge for Lokayukta cases has sentenced an ophthalmologist to one year simple imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 3,000 on finding him guilty of accepting bribe for conducting an operation. Judge R.M. Shettar convicted Pandu for accepting Rs. 5,000 from M. Subbarao, a retired government servant, for conducting an operation in Minto Eye Hospital in July 2001. The doctor had earlier taken Rs. 5,000 from Mr. Subbarao for conducting operation in Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital. — Staff Reporter
