Minister takes dig at Opposition parties
Correspondent
VIZIANAGARAM: Minister for Housing Botcha Satyanarayana on Wednesday said the Opposition parties were hindering development in the region.
He laid the foundation stone for gram panchayat office building at Denduru in Kothavalasa mandal, sanctioned 195 houses for the village and advised the poor to apply for white ration cards as the government would supply rice at Rs. 2 a kg from Ugadi, Telugu New Year. He also sanctioned a link road and an overhead water tank for the village. Addressing people, the Minister while coming down heavily on the opposition parties, said that the government had begun execution of Polavaram project despite opposition from them.
Unfortunately, the National Environmental
Appellate Authority (NEAA) quashed the environmental clearance granted by the Ministry of Environment and Forests to the project.
He said that water from Raiwada could be utilised fully for irrigation if the Polavaram project was completed.
