Reservation issue

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and BSP chief Mayavati has promised 30 per cent reservation of jobs in the private sector to her electorate. What does this imply? Superficially, it means nearly a doubling of the corporate tax in India. But, it might appear more marginal than that if one considers the crippling hidden tax of the absence of education, health, nutrition, and infrastructure in India. This will also provide a clue to what exactly reservation in the private sector will entail. It will bleed competence, competitiveness, integrity, and the quest for excellence.
