Malleswaram Gymkhana takes honours

Bangalore: Malleswaram Gymkhana emerged champion in the Jawahars Impressions Cup Twenty20 cricket tournament that concluded here on Tuesday.

In the final, Malleswaram Gymkhana defeated Bangalore Cricketers by 18 runs.

The scores: Final: Malleswaram Gymkhana 179 for seven in 20 overs (Vijay Karthik 55) bt Bangalore Cricketers 161 in 18.5 overs (Habib 43).

Angadi shines

S. Angadi’s unbeaten 115 set the base for JIRS’ 23-run victory over Bishop Cottons Boy’s School in a Boost Cup under-17 cricket tournament match here on Wednesday.

The scores: JIRS 297 for three in 45 overs (S. Angadi 115 not out, Prithvi 96) bt Bishop Cottons Boy’s School 274 in 41.3 overs (Pratheek 65 not out, P.V. Ashwin 58, Shivam four for 58); St. Paul’s English School 223 for six in 45 overs (Venkat 45, Yogesh 44, Nithin 40) lost to Bangalore HSS 224 for eight in 42.5 overs (Balasubramanya 42, Ganesh four for 44); National HS 86 in 24.2 overs (M. Dhanush 40, A. Aashray four for 45) lost to Sri Aurobindo Memorial School 90 for three in 11.4 overs (Akash 43); BEL HS 210 for nine in 45 overs (Chandan 56, Sourabh four for 30, Yoga four for 43) lost to BGS IRS 211 for nine in 34.3 overs (Nachiketh 44, Chaudhary 43).

Durgappa tops

Durgappa secured the top spot in the open chess tournament’s under-16 section.

Other winners: U-10: Raja Subramani; U-12: Srikanth; U-14: Yeshwanth.
