National championship begins today
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The 18th National senior fencing championship will get underway at the CRPF auditorium, Pallippuram, on Thursday.
Over 400 fencers drawn from 24 States expected to participate in the various events.
Being hosted in Kerala for the first time, the four-day event is likely to be dominated by the Manipur fencers, who have been enjoying an exceptionally brilliant run in the domestic scene through the last few years.
Besides the team events, the tournament will also feature individual competitions in foil, epee and sabre in both the men’s and women’s sections. — Special Correspondent
