Five injured in clashes between workers of CPI(M) and BJP

KASARAGOD: Five persons were injured when two groups of people, reportedly workers of the CPI (M) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) clashed at Cherugoly near Uppala here on Monday. Two vehicles were also damaged in the clashes. CPI(M) workers A. Muhammad Sameer 20; Aslam, 22; M.A. Ibrahim, 20; and BJP workers Sudhindra Prakash, 32 and Manoj, 22; were injured, the police said. The clashes started following arguments between two groups at Uppala market. ‘Seven Star Sports Club,’ controlled by CPI(M) workers, has also been vandalised. A mob also damaged a car and a van belonging to CPI (M) workers. A strong posse of police is camping in the area to control violence.
