JAIPUR: The Centre has selected 18 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in Rajasthan under its public-private partnership scheme allowing industry to adopt them for promoting their quality and improving their educational standards. Each ITI will get a loan up to Rs.2.5 crore from the World Bank for development of infrastructure. The Minister of State for Technical Education, Vasudeo Devnani, said here on Wednesday that the public-private partnership, involving various organisations and associations, would help bridge the gap between the output of ITIs and the industry requirements. Agreements signedAgreements between the State Government and management committees for “adoption” of ITIs were signed by Principal Technical Education Secretary G.S. Sandhu and representatives of industries here over the weekend in the presence of Mr. Devnani. Mr. Devnani said an 11-member committee had been appointed to ensure smooth operation of the new arrangement. He said the ITI students would be able to improve their skills from specialised training exposing them to the latest technical trends in the present era of globalisation. “An ITI lays the foundation for technical education and provides conceptual clarity to students. Its role will become more important under the new scheme,” said the Minister. Fifteen of the ITIs selected i are to be adopted by the CII)with the pledge to convert them into “centres of excellence”. The CII has submitted to the State Government a list of 15 industry members along with an identical number of ITIs to be adopted.
