Hotel association woos foreign tourists

Staff Reporter

‘Orissa will leave a lasting imprint’

Association criticises anti-SEZ movement

‘Incredible India brand paid dividends’

BHUBANESWAR: With raging anti-SEZ movement threatening to spoil parties of many foreign tourists at India’s most favoured tourist destination, Goa, Hotel and Restaurant Association of Orissa (HRAO) on Wednesday came forward to invite “dejected” visitors to spend their time on beaches of the State.

“Orissa as a land of warm hospitality welcomes all the foreign tourists to visit this part of coastal destination and catch the glimpses of the fabulous virgin golden beaches, monuments, tribes, wildlife, traditions, art, craft and culture,” HRAO Chairman J. K Mohanty said here.

He hoped that Orissa would leave a lasting imprint in minds of all foreigners visiting India.

Blunder

Criticizing the protest that was affecting tourism industry, Mr. Mohanty said, “it is quite alarming that some NGOs with vested interest have taken destructive stance in spoiling the booming opportunity for the hospitality industry in the country. Goa is a hot spot for the international charter tourists coming from different parts of the world.” “This is not only a colossal blunder but an unthinkable act of atrocities by such NGOs who are found lamentably lacking in their vision of growth perspectives.

They are simply charting out a path of destruction contrary to the fundamental principles of development as the common and basic tenets incorporated in the preamble of objectives of any NGO,” he added. Centre’s Incredible India brand across global tourism circuits as a strategic drive to project India as a preferred had paid dividends and there had been visible growth in number of foreign tourists visiting the county, HRAO Chairman said adding that some vested interest group were out to spoil it.
