Bankers urged to extend Rs.306-crore worth of loans under various welfare schemes Bankers have to extend financial assistance of Rs.443 crore in next three months MAHABUBNAGAR: The Minister for Rural Development G. Chinna Reddy has expressed his dissatisfaction over the achievement of targets by the banks. Addressing district level bankers review committee meeting here on Wednesday the Minister said that the district performance is very poor in achieving the targets and the district stood 22nd rank in the State. He requested the bankers to achieve the targets of various government schemes before March 2008.He urged the bankers to extend Rs.306 crore of loans under bank linkage, bridge loans in addition to the other welfare schemes. He informed that the bankers has to extend total financial assistance of Rs.443 crore in next three months. Mr.Chinna Reddy suggested the bankers to prepare an action plan of bank wise and branch wise to achieve the targets with in the time.The Minister assured to sort out the bankers problems if any and sought the cooperation from the banks. Referring about recoveries the Minister said that cooperation and coordination would be extended from government to solve the problem. Loan facilitySpecial representative of AP government at Delhi requested the bankers to extend loans SHG groups to improve their financial position as well as to farmers and others liberally. He also said that a special officer should be appointed to supervise the implementation of schemes linked with banks. MP from Nagarkurnool M. Jagannath said that banks with poor performance would be brought to the notice of finance department for taking action. Collector V. Usharani informed that 27 bank branches are showing very poor performance in the district and urged them to make efforts to achieve targets before end of the March. General Manager Andhra Bank and Convinor State-level bankers committee Mr. Nageshwar Rao assured the members that the targets would be grounded as per scheduled.
