CHENNAI: The senior division league of the Chennai Hockey Association gets underway at the Mayor Radhakrishnan stadium on December 28. In all 16 teams are taking part including the promoted side Madras Blues, a team comprising exclusively of Loyola College players. Madras Blues is returning to the senior division after a gap of 27 years. The sixteen teams will be placed in two pools and the top three finishers in each pool will qualify for the ‘super-six league’, which decides the league winner. The teams: pool A: IOB, SAI ‘A’, S. Railway ‘A’, TNSP, FCI, SBI, Chennai Port Trust, Madras Blues; pool B: ICF, Indian Bank, Central Excise, SAI ‘B’, YMCA, Chennai City Police, TNEB, S. Railway ‘B’. Junior tennisThe 24th annual TTT junior tennis championship will be held at the Trust’s courts at YMCA College of Physical Education, Nandanam, from January 12 to 19. Entry forms are available at TTT and also online ( www.triangletennis.org ). The last date for entries is January 9. Call Johnson/Madhukar Kumar (24353082/94447-41483/Fax: 24994510). The events to be held are: State-ranking: Boys’ and girls’ singles under-16, 14 and 12; Boys’ doubles under-16 and 12; Girls’ doubles under-16; Non-ranking event: Children’s singles under-10. There will be qualifying matches for all events.
