Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The Congress party will discuss its political strategy for elections to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) at the party’s foundation day celebrations here on Friday.

Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and All India Congress Committee secretary Iqbal Singh would participate in the event to be held at Jewel Gardens, Bowenpally, according to D. Nagender, president of Greater Hyderabad Congress Committee.

He told a press conference on Wednesday that the celebrations would be utilised to assess the strength of Congress in 150 municipal divisions of Greater Hyderabad, including 12 municipalities and 9 gram panchayats that were recently merged with the city.

The leadership would gather inputs from party workers and prepare a strategy paper. Mr. Nagender also said the meeting would discuss measures to strengthen the party and how best to take the Government programmes to people.
