Victory: The prize winners at the annual sports meet held in National Public School, Rajajinagar. Bangalore: Children of St. Ann’s High School, Rajajinagar, displayed their skills in embroidery at a contest organised in the school recently. Over 70 students from primary and high school took part in a contest conducted by Madhura Coats. Headmistress Sudha Naik said that the contest was aimed at promoting traditional Indian art and culture among the younger generation. Sneha. N. won the first prize in the junior section, while Charithra. C. won in the senior section. Student coordinator Sarala Nataraj and consultant Sapna Mahesh were present. Sports meetThe annual sports meet of National Public School, Rajajinagar was held recently. The meet began with a colourful march past by members of different houses. This was followed by a display by the school band. Spectacular displays by the students in colourful attire, included Taekkalari — an interesting fusion of two different styles of martial arts — Taekwondo and Kalaripayattu, aerobics, a yoga demonstration and “Serve and Smash”, a display with badminton rackets. The overall championship for the track events and games was bagged by Centaur House. K.P. Gopalakrishna, founder chairman, National Public Schools, in his address emphasised the importance of sports and communication skills in daily life. The winners of various events received medals and certificates. Phoenix House walked away with the top honours in the march past. Spoorti 2007Florence Public School, RT Nagar, hosted “Spoorti (Ispirazione) 2007”, its annual inter-school literary and cultural festival recently. This year, apart from literary and cultural competitions, sports was also a part of the fest. The inter-school basketball and football tournaments were also conducted. Many interesting competitions such as prose and poetry writing, style act and web designing were part of the fest. Two competitions, “Mathinali Gaade” and “Mishra Madhurya”, were held in Kannada. A science seminar was also held as a competition in which a participant was allowed to present a paper on various topics such as black hole, nanotechnology, prions, superconductors, stem cell therapy, artificial intelligence, smart eating for busy people and preventing burnout. A special “anthakshari” for teacher-coordinators was a super hit. Prasiddhi School, Palace Grounds, bagged the Cultural Rolling Trophy, while Carmel School, Padmanabhanagar, lifted the Overall Rolling Trophy. Tejas. V. of V.V.S. Sardar Patel School, Rajajinagar, was adjudged “Spoorti Child of the Year”. THE HINDU NIE TEAM
