Suspended deputy jailor, brother arrested

HYDERABAD: A deputy jailor under suspension and his brother landed behind the bars on Wednesday allegedly for resorting to chain-snatchings to lead a lavish lifestyle.
Stolen gold chains weighing 250 grams were recovered from the arrested B. Srinivas Naik, 33, who was suspended on charge of involving in land settlements while working at Cherlapally jail and his brother B. Shiva Naik, 27.
Hailing from Prakasam district, Srinivas Naik got selected as deputy jailor in 1996 Three years later, he was arrested along with two of his associates on charge of collecting money from vehicle drivers posing themselves as transport department officials. .
Two years ago, he was posted to Cherlapally jail but was shown the door for allegedly interfering in land dispute settlements. The suspended deputy jailor started snatching chains along with his brother, the Kushaiguda police station SI B. Ramesh told reporters. With their arrest, as many as 25 snatching cases were detected.
