LIC opens satellite office at Jayamkondam

Will facilitate new business as well as providing basic services

3.31 lakh policies sold up to December 15 by Thanjavur division


ARIYALUR: The Thanjavur division of Life Insurance Corporation of India opened its third satellite office at Jayamkondam under the Ariyalur branch area on Wednesday.

The office was inaugurated by the Zonal Manager, LIC, South Zone, B. Manivannan in the presence of the Chief Engineer, LIC zonal office, South Zone, Chennai, T. R. Venugopal and Revenue Divisional Officer, Udayarpalayam, K. Manoharan.

36th satellite office

This is the 36th satellite office of the LIC under Southern Zone and the third in the Thanjavur division.

A press release of the Senior Divisional Manager, Thanjavur division of the LIC, K. Rajivan Nair issued here said, the policyholders and the field force belonging to Jayamkondam taluk were attached to Ariyalur branch for payment of premium of their policies and submission of new business.

The opening of a satellite office at Jayamkondam would be beneficial to the customers and the agents in and around Jayamkondam by way of easy access for payment of premium and for making enquiries regarding their insurance policies.

Agents and development officers of this area will find it convenient to introduce the new business as well as providing basic services like status report of policies etc.

Growth

Referring to the performance of the division, Mr. Nair said Thanjavur division, which accounted for 27 branches spread over in eight revenue districts and the Union Territory of Puducherry, has sold 3.31 lakh policies up to December 15 during this financial year, with a first premium income of Rs.422.79 crore, showing a growth of 71.34 per cent and 55.47 per cent respectively.

The division has settled 48,181 maturity and survival benefit claims disbursing an amount of Rs.91.93 crore and 3,404 death claims to the tune of Rs.113.67 crore.

Networked

On the initiative taken by the LIC for serving the policyholders better, he said all the 27 branches and the three satellite offices (at Manapparai, Lalgudi and Jayamkondam) are networked.

Now the policy holders could pay premium in any branch office of LIC or through ATMs of Corporation Bank /Axis (UTI) Bank or through internet.

Direct debit

LIC premium could be paid by direct debit to their savings bank accounts in the bank branches under the jurisdiction of Tiruchi by the ECS.

The premium could also be paid directly at the Axis Bank branches and official receipts could be obtained across the bank counter.

The latest information on policies could be accessed through IVRS and information kiosks.

Division toppers

Thuraiyur branch in Tiruchi district tops the division in number of policies and first premium income collected under single premium.

Pudukottai branch has achieved the top rank in the volume of first premium income garnered under the non-single premium, he added.
